NEW YORK (AP) Comments on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers by the AP Pro32 panel (ranking in parentheses):
TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS (14)
Chris Berman (ESPN, 18) - Like what's brewing on Florida's Gulf Coast.
Clifton Brown (Sporting News, 11) - Doug Martin's electrifying running has taken this team to a new level.
Cris Collinsworth (NBC Sports, 17)
Rich Gannon (CBS Sports/SiriusXM NFL Radio, 14) - After starting 1-3, now 4-4 and playing better on both sides of the ball.
Bob Glauber (Newsday, 17) - Who ever thought Doug Martin would be in the running for Offensive Rookie of the Year? A record-setting rushing day for the Bucs' tailback has him in the conversation.
Rick Gosselin (Dallas Morning News, 17) - QB Josh Freeman has not thrown an interception in the last three games. He'll take a streak of 131 consecutive passes without an interception into Sunday's game against San Diego.
Clark Judge (CBSSports.com, 14) - Doug is my favorite Martin.
Ira Kaufman (Tampa Tribune, 14) - What will wondrous rookie back Doug Martin do for an encore?
Pat Kirwan (SiriusXM NFL Radio/CBSSports.com, 12) - Coach Schiano has built attitude into this team and they are a tough out. Doug Martin is quickly becoming an elite RB and Josh Freeman is back to 2010 form. The problems are on defense, which gave up over 400 yards passing to the Raiders, The next four QBs they face are Rivers, Newton, Ryan and Peyton.
John Lynch (Fox Sports, 15) - Greg Schiano can lead and Greg Schiano can coach. An offense led by RB Doug Martin and Josh Freeman has been the most explosive in the NFL over the last four games. They have lost some of their better players to injuries, but remain undaunted.
Alex Marvez (Foxsports.com, 17) - Running back Doug Martin (251 yards, four touchdowns) and outside linebacker Lavonte David (14 tackles) shined as members of Tampa Bay's rookie class in last Sunday's 42-32 win over Oakland.
Dan Pompei (Chicago Tribune, 16) - It seems like Doug Martin covered enough yards in the last two weeks to have run a marathon.
