NEW YORK (AP) Comments on the San Diego Chargers by the AP Pro32 panel (ranking in parentheses):
SAN DIEGO CHARGERS (16)
Chris Berman (ESPN, 18) - Doesn't feel like it but still in first.
Clifton Brown (Sporting News, 16) - If they don't make playoffs, Norv Turner may need Stickum to hold onto his job.
Cris Collinsworth (NBC Sports, 14)
Rich Gannon (CBS Sports/SiriusXM NFL Radio, 14) - As bad as things seem, they are still in this but Rivers needs to stop turning it over, it's a problem now.
Bob Glauber (Newsday, 20) - Is the second-half meltdown against the Broncos the beginning of the end for Norv Turner? It is if San Diego misses the playoffs again.
Rick Gosselin (Dallas Morning News, 16) - Ever wonder where the Chargers would be in the NFL pecking order if they had kept QB Drew Brees?
Clark Judge (CBSSports.com, 18) - They Bolts are tied with Denver for first in the AFC West, but seldom have fans felt less confident about their team - probably because it just blew back-to-back double-digit leads in the fourth quarter.
Ira Kaufman (Tampa Tribune, 19) - A loss in Cleveland could seal Norv Turner's fate.
Pat Kirwan (SiriusXM NFL Radio/CBSSports.com, 14) - Consistency is not their strong suit but they can be explosive at times. This season could go either way after their bye.
John Lynch (Fox Sports, 17) - Leadership is critical right now. A loss like the one they had to Denver can ruin a team if they let it. They can't let it!
Alex Marvez (Foxsports.com, 17) - Everybody should just chill, right? That's easier said than done with the Chargers dropping their past two games against New Orleans and Denver in stunning fashion.
Dan Pompei (Chicago Tribune, 16) - Take a chill pill, everyone. The Chargers still are 3-3, and a pretty talented team.
