NEW YORK (AP) Comments on the Atlanta Falcons by the AP Pro32 panel (ranking in parentheses):

---

ATLANTA FALCONS (4)

Chris Berman (ESPN, 5) - Quite a statement first shutout registered vs. defending Super Bowl champ since 1981.

Clifton Brown (Sporting News, 5) - OK, the Falcons are legit. That beat down of the Giants was impressive.

Cris Collinsworth (NBC Sports, 3)

Rich Gannon (CBS Sports/SiriusXM NFL Radio, 6) - Finally beat up the bullies (Giants) and showed they can compete with anyone.

Bob Glauber (Newsday, 3) - Matt Ryan insisted last week's stinker in Carolina wasn't the start of a trend. He and the Falcons showed that in no uncertain terms by stomping the defending Super Bowl champs at home. One more win and Atlanta clinches homefield advantage in the NFC.

Rick Gosselin (Dallas Morning News, 2) - Only two NFL teams are unbeaten at home this season - the Falcons at 7-0 and the Seahawks at 6-0.

Clark Judge (CBSSports.com, 2) - The Falcons believe they delivered a statement with last week's demolition of the Giants, and that's great. But the only statement that matters with these guys comes next month.

Ira Kaufman (Tampa Tribune, 3) - That one was for all the doubters out there. Any left?

Pat Kirwan (SiriusXM NFL Radio/CBSSports.com, 2) - The critics can back off now after they shutout the New York Giants.

John Lynch (Fox Sports, 6) - Hello! Just when everyone was starting to doubt the Falcons they made an emphatic statement against last year's Super Bowl champs. Everyone waits until the playoffs to see if this year's Falcons are different. I say they are.

Alex Marvez (Foxsports.com, 4) - The Falcons have spent much of the season bemoaning a lack of media "respect." They earned a big helping of it Sunday with a 34-0 pasting of the New York Giants.

Dan Pompei (Chicago Tribune, 6) - They bounced back from a stinker against the Panthers with their most impressive victory of the year against the Giants. That's the sign of a good team.
