NEW YORK (AP) Comments on the New York Jets by the AP Pro32 panel (ranking in parentheses):
NEW YORK JETS (20)
Chris Berman (ESPN, 20) - Why not use Tebow near goal line?
Clifton Brown (Sporting News, 19) - Give them credit for getting better. Getting to the playoffs will still be tough.
Cris Collinsworth (NBC Sports, 20)
Rich Gannon (CBS Sports/SiriusXM NFL Radio, 15) - Valiant effort against New England showed that this team isn't going away.
Bob Glauber (Newsday, 18) - Mark Sanchez nearly pulls off a shocking fourth-quarter comeback in New England, but Tom Brady gets the better of the Jets' D at the end of regulation and again in OT.
Rick Gosselin (Dallas Morning News, 22) - Seven games into the season, the Jets still haven't figured out how to maximize Tim Tebow. He remains a novelty item.
Clark Judge (CBSSports.com, 21) - Odd as it may seem, a loss relieved some of the pressure on these guys. Yeah, they're under .500, but they almost beat New England ... and that's renewed some Rex-pectations.
Ira Kaufman (Tampa Tribune, 20) - That killer OT loss at Foxborough might end up serving as an epitaph.
Pat Kirwan (SiriusXM NFL Radio/CBSSports.com, 23) - Stop the Tebow experiment and let Mark Sanchez stay on the field. He threw for 328 yards last week against the Patriots.
John Lynch (Fox Sports, 20) - As I said last week, whenever you "write" the Jets off, Rex has them come out smoking. They gave the Pats all they could handle but fell short.
Alex Marvez (Foxsports.com, 20) - Tony Sparano isn't impressing in his first season as offensive coordinator.
Dan Pompei (Chicago Tribune, 24) - The Jets lost a tough one Sunday, but at least they showed they can hang with the Patriots.
