WASHINGTON KASTLES

In a preview of the Eastern Conference Championship, the Washington Kastles fell to the Philadelphia Freedoms evening the 2014 season series at two wins apiece.

The Freedomes were able to save an incredible six match points and stunned the Kastles in a Supertiebreaker for the 21-20 lead.

Washington led 18-13 when the seemingly unbeatable mixed doubles team of Leander Paes and Martina Hingis took the court against Marcelo Melo and Liezel Huber. Peas and Hingis were 15-1 dating back to 2013 and 2-0 this season against Melo and Huber, but that's why they play the game.

Melo and Huber won the set 5-2 to force the match to overtime, saved six match points to force a Supertiebreaker, then rallied from 3-1 down to win the Supertiebreaker 7-4 and put a bow on the miraculous performance.

The two teams will meet again Thursday in Washington for the Eastern Conference Championship. The home team has won all four matches this season. The winner will advance to the Mylan WTT Finals to be hosted by the Western Conference Champions on Sunday.
