(Oct. 25, 2011) Comcast SportsNet Mid-Atlantic, the regions leading source for multiplatform sports coverage, has announced it will deliver extensive coverage surrounding the 36th Marine Corps Marathon as the events exclusive television partner. In addition to providing live marathon-day coverage on Sunday, Oct. 30, the network will feature a variety of interviews and stories leading up to the event within its news and entertainment programs.Comcast SportsNet will air Geico SportsNet Central: Live from the Marine Corps Marathon on location at the starting line in Arlington, Va., on Oct. 30 from 7 to 8:30 a.m. Hosted by Comcast SportsNets Michael Jenkins and Jill Sorenson, coverage will feature Chas Henry a former U.S. Marine and award-winning reporter and will include all-access coverage of the event, including interviews with organizers, participants and special guests. Coverage of the event will continue with live updates throughout the morning and a complete wrap-up and highlights within that evenings Geico SportsNet Central shows.Coverage of the Marine Corps Marathon will also be featured on the networks daily news and entertainment programs leading up to the race. Beginning on Tuesday, Oct. 25, Geico SportsNet Central will chronicle several runners and deliver special features leading up to the marathon as part of a series, Countdown to the Marine Corps Marathon. Comcast SportsNets Ivan Carter, the host of Washington Post Live, is running the marathon on behalf of the Washington Humane Society and will be highlighted in the series.CSNwashington.com will also provide participants and their friends and family the opportunity to watch every runner cross the finish-line after the race.
