For all the success stories in professional sports, there are unfortunately plenty of alternate tales, guys who never reach their potential and spiral downward after their careers.

Elijah Dukes was once a promising outfield prospect for the Nationals before he fizzled out in the majors, and since leaving the Nats in 2009 he’s found a world of trouble.

Dukes was arrested again on Thursday, this time with a warrant charging him with violating his probation. Dukes resides in Tampa, Fl. where he began his MLB career with the Rays.

Dukes made headlines in February of 2012 after he tried to eat a bag of marijuana during a traffic stop. In January he was arrested again after failing to show up in court for those charges.

Dukes played two seasons with the Nationals and appeared in 188 games. He hasn’t played in the majors since he was 25.

Dukes, 29, is now in Hillsborough County Jail without bail. For more on Dukes’ situation, read the initial report from the Tampa Bay Times.
