Bryce Harper has already had an eventful offseason between getting the N.L. Rookie of the Year award and being a candidate for the cover of MLB ’13 The Show. On Tuesday night he will add another highlight to his 2012-13 offseason.
Harper will appear on Jimmy Kimmel Live as a guest at 11:35 p.m. on ABC along with Rob Lowe and the rapper Big Boi. He will be the second Nationals player, as far as we know, to appear on late night television. After Stephen Strasburg’s debut in 2010 he helped David Letterman with his ‘Top Ten’ segment.
Harper going on Jimmy Kimmel just further proves his impressive Q rating. The young outfielder has made plenty of headlines in the past year on the field, and plenty off the field as well. Just take the “That’s a clown question, bro” saga as an example.
The Nationals All-Star will join Robert Griffin III as recent D.C. athletes to go on late night television. Griffin III appeared on Jay Leno’s Tonight Show last year after getting drafted and made news with his beat boxing. Given Harper’s tendencies and sense of humor, it’s a good bet he’ll say or do something interesting as well.
Rob Lowe, for what it's worth, is listed first on the show's website, this probably means he will be the first guest. Harper may be famous, but evidently not quite as relevant as Mr. Lowe.
Also, here is Strasburg’s Letterman appearance in case you haven’t seen it:
