Help is on the way for injury-plagued Nationals

Despite injuries to three key members of their lineup, their biggest offseason acquisition and a trusted veteran off the bench, the Nationals have managed to keep their heads above water through the season's first five weeks.

So even though the mood inside the visitors' clubhouse at Citizens Bank Park yesterday was down following a frustrating, 1-0 loss to the Phillies, players left and right perked up when talking about the overall state of this team, which heads home with a 17-14 record, 1/2-game back in the NL East.

"I feel like we're in a great position," utilityman Kevin Frandsen said. "Just because of the fact every single one of the guys in here battles and fights. Nothing's ever over, and it's pretty awesome to watch and be a part of. No matter what it is — 7-2, 1-0, whatever inning it is, whoever's pitching — we still feel like we have a chance. I feel like that's the character of this team."
