Everyone expects Davey Johnson to return as Nationals manager, but as each day passes it begs the question: when will they get the deal done?
Johnson is under contract as a consultant for the team, but a new agreement is being discussed for him to manage. While some Nats fans may start becoming worried, Johnson himself told MLB.com that he isn’t concerned at all.
"There isn't really any rush for me," Johnson told MLB.com's Bill Ladson. "I'm not worried about it. I assume everything is going to worked out. I don't feel like it's an emergency. I feel like I'm still the manager."
Ladson says a deal could get done within the next few days as general manger Mike Rizzo is still negotiation despite being at the GM meetings in Indian Wells, California.
Johnson led the Nationals to a 98-64 record in 2012 and their first N.L. East title since moving to Washington.
