Washington Nationals fans can get a glimpse at the team’s future Saturday night as three of the team’s prospects are set to participate in the 2012 Arizona Fall League Rising Stars Game. 2011 first round picks Anthony Rendon and Brian Goodwin as well as 2010 ninth round pick Aaron Barrett will represent the Nats on the East Division team.

Rendon and Goodwin have the best chance to make an immediate impact on the big league club as both could see time in the majors next season. Rendon, an infielder out of Rice University, is batting .291 in the AFL with six RBI and eight walks through 15 games. Goodwin has appeared in 14 AFL games with a .268 average, three home runs and four RBI.

Rendon is ranked as the 33rd prospect overall by MLB.com and Goodwin slots 67th. Both players are 22 years old.

Barrett is the Nationals’ only pitcher in the showcase and has appeared in seven AFL games this year. The 6’4” right-hander holds a 3.38 ERA through eight innings of work with seven strikeouts and just one walk. He pitched for at Hagerstown and Potomac for the Nationals in 2012.
