Nats release statement on Jayson Werth's speeding ticket

Nationals outfielder Jayson Werth will appear in court for a misdemeanor reckless driving charge on Nov. 12 in Fairfax, Va.

The 35-year-old was pulled over for going 105 miles per hour in a 55 mile per hour zone on July 6. He was originally scheduled in court last Friday, but the date was continued until this offseason.

The Washington Nationals released a statement on Wednesday that was obtained by ESPN:

"The Washington Nationals have been in communication with right fielder Jayson Werth regarding this situation for multiple weeks. Jayson is cooperating with the authorities. As it is an ongoing legal matter, the team has no further comment."

Werth is currently recovering from AC joint inflammation in his right shoulder. He his batting .279 with 12 home runs and 63 RBI this season.
