The Washington Nationals have signed infielder Brian Bocock to a minor league deal. Bill Ladson of MLB.com first had the report.
Bocock, 27, joins the Nationals after spending time with the San Francisco Giants and Philadelphia Phillies. He is a local product having been born in Harrisonburg, VA and went to high school in Bridgewater.
Bocock made his major league debut as the Opening Day shortstop of the Giants in 2008. He spend most of his two years with the club in their minor league system.
Bocock has also spent time in the Pirates and Blue Jays’ farm systems. In 38 career MLB games he holds a .134 average with 11 hits and two RBI.
