Recently released by the Nationals, reliever Luis Ayala has now rejoined the Baltimore Orioles. Ayala was a valuable piece of the Orioles' 2012 postseason team.

The Nationals cut Ayala on Wednesday after he posted a 13.50 ERA in six innings this spring. He allowed nine earned runs on 10 hits and recored a 2.000 WHIP.

Ayala's rough spring came after a decent 2013 season where he held a 3.27 ERA in 39 appearances split between the Orioles and Braves. 

The Baltimore Sun reported on Thursday the Orioles and Ayala were discussing a minor league deal. On Friday he passed his physical to make it official.

Ayala has played nine seasons in the major leagues, the first five of them in the Nationals/Expos organization.
