Stephen Strasburg is one of the best pitchers in major league baseball and as competitive an athlete as they come. Ask him about baseball and he sounds like a big league pitcher. Ask him about video games? He sounds like any other 24-year-old gamer.

Strasburg reviewed the new Call of Duty: Black Ops II for USA Today and raved about the new maps, the guns, and the “big explosions.” He said he takes his Play Station 3 with him on every Nationals road trip to play his favorite games.

Strasburg said he likes to compete with fellow baseball players and teammates in his down time by playing Call of Duty online. Among those he competes with are Nationals players Drew Storen, Mike Morse, and Jesus Flores.

Of playing against his teammates, the Nationals’ ace joked:

“We have pretty much built our offseason workout program around playing video games.”

Strasburg spoke with USA Today game critic Mike Snider and broke the game down as if he knows his stuff. He said he originally got to test beta versions of the game back in April when the team played against the Dodgers in Los Angeles.

Check out the video to see Strasburg talk about the game which is scheduled to release on Nov. 13. As you can see from the photo above, he was pretty in to it.
