The Nationals return home having won six consecutive games and eight of their last nine. Tonight they try and keep it going with the first of a three-game series against the Phillies.

The Nats will open their homestand without Stephen Strasburg who was a late scratch due to forearm tightness. Ross Ohlendorf is starting in his place. I'll have more details on that soon in another story.

Pitching for the Phillies is right-hander Kyle Kendrick (10-12, 4.51) who is making his fifth start against the Nats this season. He has a 4.13 ERA against Washington in 2013 through 24 innings.
