Among the primary reasons why the Mystics labored through two consecutive losing seasons, lack of point guard play.

Among the primary reasons why after winning only five games in 2012 Washington is 3-1 this campaign, the play of free agent point guard Ivory Latta.

The WNBA took notice by naming Latta the league's Player of the Week. In games against the Connecticut Sun and Minnesota Lynx, both wins, she averaged 20.5 points per game, 4.5 rebounds per game and 4.0 assists per game.  Not just simply posting stats, Latta is producing in the clutch. On the road Friday against the Sun, she scored 10 of her 17 points in the fourth quarter in a 66-62 victory.

Back at the Verizon Center the following night, the Mystics stunned the 2011 WNBA Champion Lynx 85-80 with Latta scoring 17 of her 24 points in the second half. Both performances came after her grandfather passed away earlier in the week. 

It is the first time in her seven-year WNBA career that Latta has been named player of the week.
