Once again, moving trucks are headed from the Verizon Center to Phoenix.

After one season with the Wizards, assistant coach Jerry Sichting is taking a similar position with the Phoenix Suns. CSNwashington confirmed the news first reported by John Gambadoro with Phoenix radio station 620 KTAR.

Previously an assistant with Minnesota and Golden State, Sichting joins the staff of new head coach Jeff Hornacek, recently hired by Phoenix. Last month, the Suns hired Wizards director of player personnel Pat Connelly for a front office position. Others in Washington's front office are rumored for positions with other teams.

Sichting also played 10 seasons for five NBA teams, most notably the 1986 NBA champion Boston Celtics. He worked as an assistant with the Timberwolves for 11 seasons, including two when Wizards head coach Randy Wittman held the same position with Minnesota.

Though a guard in the NBA, Sichting often worked with the Wizards' big men before games. We'll see if the team hires a replacement, but for now four assistants remain: Don Newman, Sam Cassell, Don Zierden and Ryan Saunders. Flip Saunders, Ryan's father and an ex-Wizards head coach, recently took over basketball operations for the Timberwolves.
