The best high school player since LeBron James. That striking statement was attributed to Jabari Parker on the cover of Sports Illustrated this week. The Chicago prep star is the top recruit in the class of 2013 and was the 2012 Gatorade national player of the year, as a junior.

At 69 Parker has led Simeon high school (Alma Mater of Derrick Rose) to three straight Illinois high school basketball championships and is the reigning Mr. Basketball for the state.

His mix of size, ball handling and shooting is a sight to see. During a game just before Christmas I personally witnessed John Calipari, Mike Krzyzewski, and Rick Pitino all on the sidelines getting an up close and personal at the next big thing.

Whether he will be better than Rose, Kevin Durant, Greg Oden, or Anthony Davis remains to be seen. Heres wishing him the best of luck.
