Surprising nobody, Wizards second-year guard Bradley Beal was named to the BBVA Compass Rising Stars Challenge, the rookie vs sophomore game that takes place during NBA All-Star Weekend.
Beal dealt with a knee injury to start the season, but when he has played he's been a great scorer for the Wiz and a strong complement to point guard John Wall. In 35 games this season, Beal is averaging 17 points, three assists and almost four rebounds.
Beal's success has come while dealing with a 30-minutes per-game-limit. Once Beal's knee gets stronger, that limit will likely be lifted, and his scoring could increase. Through 44 games, the Wizards are 22-22 and solidly in position to make the playoffs for the first time since the 2007-08 season.
Beal played in the Rising Stars game last year as a rookie, just one honor in a great rookie season. Beal made the NBA All-Rookie First Team, finished third in Rookie of the Year voting and was named Rookie of the Month twice.
