Despite a slow start to his first season that was injury-riddled, Wizards shooting guard Bradley Beal recovered to be a key contributor and a selection to the All-Rookie first team on Tuesday.

Damon Lillard of the Portland Trail Blazers was the only unanimous choice with 58 points and the maximum 29 first-team votes. Beal and Anthony Davis (New Orleans Hornets/Pelicans) had 57 points and 28 first-place votes.

Dion Waiters (Cleveland Cavaliers) and Harrison Barnes (Golden State Warriors) were the other first-teamers.

All 30 NBA coaches voted for five players for the first and second teams. Position doesn't factor into choices.

Lillard, the sixth overall pick in the 2012 draft, already was named the Rookie of the Year after averaging 19 points and 6.5 assists per game.

Beal averaged 13.9 points, 3.8 rebounds and 2.4 assists and had 13 games of 20-plus points.

Beal's season ended prematurely, however, because of a stress injury to his lower right leg. He misses 26 games in all.
