Bucks forward and ex-Wizard Caron Butler was fined $15,000 by the NBA league office for an obscene gesture in Milwaukee's win over Boston on Friday night. The gesture? Here's the still photo version, but basically its the "Sam Cassell dance". There is another, more descriptive name for the dance. Most of you probably know, but if not, here you go.
In the context of all that takes place at NBA games - think about others dancing - this seems rather harmless, but, hey, family atmosphere, sure.
Butler isn't the first NBA player hit with this specific fine this season. Oddly, the other player, also an ex-Wizard, but one we're just not that interested in anymore so click on the previous link if you care. The folks at ProBasketballTalk won't mind if you do. Page hits are swell.
Based on how the NBA league office is punishing on-court celebrations these days and one thing is clear: If the current Wizards assistant were still active, Cassell would be lighter in the wallet.
