We knew the coaching rumors involving Kentucky's John Calipari would start one way or another following Monday's national championship game. Former Wildcat great and ex-Washington Bullet Rex Chapman decided there was no point in waiting.
Some 90 minutes before Kentucky and Connecticut meet in the season's final game, Chapman put out the following tweet:
Some minor decoding: "La-La-land" means the Los Angeles Lakers and "Mamba" equals Kobe Bryant. Seeing as the Lakers are near the bottom in the NBA standings and could use some star power besides Bryant, the idea of adding Coach Cal makes good PR sense if nothing else. Also should Calipari win his second title in three seasons with Kentucky on Monday night, perhaps time has come for him to try slaying the NBA game that befuddled him with the New Jersey Nets during the 90's.
Do we believe this rumor? Eh, who knows. Again, Calipari is a mainstay in this realm. Then again, Chapman knows Kentucky which makes this buzz a bit buzzier than most.
