In losing six of their last seven games, the L.A. Lakers have shown an uncanny ability to give much defensive resistance as they prefer a high-possession style that translates to a lot of points both ways.

Going into Friday's game, the Lakers are 2-6 this month. They've allowed an average of 125 points per game, which should create a lot of open-court opportunities for John Wall and open looks for Bradley Beal and Trevor Ariza on the wings -- even without Marcin Gortat (back).

The Lakers are missing Jordan Farmar, who had 22 points in the first meeting, because of a groin strain. They've long been without for Wizards guard Nick Young (left knee) and forward-center Jordan Hill (right knee). That trio combined to score 58 points at Verizon Center. Young, and Steve Nash (back), could return for this game.

TV: There isn't a pregame or postgame show because of the late start. Tipoff from Staples Center is 10:30 p.m. ET on CSN. Radio: 106.7 FM. 1500 AM.

Last game: Wizards (35-33) played at Portland Trail Blazers on Thursday; Lakers (22-45) lost to San Antonio Spurs 125-109 on Wednesday.

Last meeting: Wizards won 116-111 on Feb. 26, playing for the first time of the season without Bradley Beal who was out with a stress injury to his right leg. Season series: Wizards lead 1-0.

Projected starting lineups: Wizards –- PG John Wall, SG Bradley Beal, SF Trevor Ariza, PF Trevor Booker, C Kevin Seraphin. Lakers  –- PG Kendall Marshall, SG Jodie Meeks, SF Wesley Johnson, PF Ryan Kelly, C Pau Gasol.

X-factors: Kent Bazemore can be instant offense off the bench for L.A. while Martell Webster has been up and down in similar role for Washington all season.  ... Gortat likely won't be available but hasn't been ruled out yet.

Around the bend: The Wizards will spend the night in L.A., be off Saturday and play at the Denver Nuggets to end this four-game road trip Sunday (CSN, 5 p.m. ET).
