Wizards' guard Bradley Beal stops by STL
The season opens Wednesday for two teams that are expected to be playoff contenders in the East after lengthy absences.

Last meeting: Lost to the Pistons 99-96 on Oct. 22 in an exhibition game in Detroit. The Wizards' three-point shooting was terrible, going 3-for-16. The Pistons had five players score in double-figures.
Projected starting lineups: Wizards –- PG John Wall, SG Bradley Beal, SF Trevor Ariza, PF Nene, C Marcin Gortat. Pistons –- PG Chauncey Billups, SG Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, SF Josh Smith, PF Greg Monroe, C Andre Drummond.
Question marks 1). Will Gortat, who will have had just three practices with his new team, be in sync with Nene? 2). Can the Wizards keep their turnovers under 20? 3). Will Wall rediscover his field-goal accuracy that escaped him for seven preseason games? 4). How much will Jan Vesely, who was supposed to turn the corner after a strong off-season, play after the team declined to pick up his option for 2014-15? 5). Can Beal continue to play like an All-Star now that the games count?
X-factors: Rookie Peyton Siva has logged plenty of playing time in the preseason where he started at PG. … C Kevin Seraphin will come off the bench and has to be effective to help spell the post players vs. the physical frontline of Detroit. … PG Eric Maynor wasn't impressive in the preseason and has to be better in relief of Wall.
He said it: "I don't buy too much into that. I think we knew who they were. Josh didn't play against us. Whether we played them or not we knew it was going to be a big frontline. Chauncey is one of the smartest players in the league. We're going to have to go in there and play good to come out with a win." -- Wizards coach Randy Wittman on what can be carried over from his preseason game vs. the Pistons last week.
Around the bend: The Wizards practiced at Verizon Center on Tuesday before leaving for Detroit. They'll have a shootaround on Wednesday before the game.
