Wittman: 'They took us to the wood shed"
Both teams are coming off road losses and playing back-to-back games, but the Wizards are desperate for their first home win of 2014.
TV: Wizards Central pregame show on CSN at 6:30 p.m. ET; followed by tip-off from Verizon Center at 7 and Wizards Postgame Live immediately afterward. Radio: 1500 AM. 106.7 FM
Last game: Wizards (16-18) lost at the Indiana Pacers 93-66 on Friday; Rockets (23-14) lost at the Atlanta Hawks 83-80 on Friday.
Projected starting lineups: Wizards –- PG John Wall, SG Bradley Beal, SF Trevor Ariza, PF Trevor Booker, C Marcin Gortat. Rockets –- PG Jeremy Lin, SG James Harden, SF Ronnie Brewer, PF Terrence Jones, C Dwight Howard.
Entry passes: 1). The Rockets play at a fast pace which lends itself to more possessions and transition baskets as long as Wizards can knock down open jumpers. 2). Gortat should be encouraged by his solid defense on Roy Hibbert twice, though the Wizards were blown out both games. 3). Martell Webster has to be the second scorer off bench with Nene. 4). Beal and Nene are still playing with time restrictions. 5). Use fouls on Howard if game is close in fourth quarter because of his foul shooting.
X-factors: Needing to use fouls on Howard would make Kevin Seraphin viable for more playing time. y... Speaking of foul shooting, the Wizards are 25-for-49 in their last two games, 51%. ... The Rockets have been without Chandler Parsons (knee), Omer Asik (knee) and Patrick Beverley (hand) recently.
He said it: “We had shots go off the side of the backboard, airball hook shots. It was just one of those nights." -- Booker on 32% shooting in Indiana
Around the bend: The Wizards will be off Sunday and travel to Chicago, where they'll play the Bulls on Monday (CSN, 8).
