LAS VEGAS -- Sunday, Glen Rice took his turn as the rising second-year player for the Wizards to stand out at summer league as they won their second game in a row for their best start here since 2010.
With Otto Porter scoring a game-high 25 points in the opening win Saturday vs. the Atlanta Hawks, Rice led the way with 20 points, six rebounds and three steals in a 67-59 victory vs. the Minnesota Timberwolves.
"That's what he does," assistant coach Sam Cassell said about Rice's attacks on the basket. "That's his stronger aspect. We got one guy that can get us into the penalty (during the regular season) and that is John Wall. Glen Rice can be the other guy. He's going to make it hard for somebody. ... He's doing a damn good job right now."
Porter finished with 13 points on 6-for-15 shooting and had his night interrupted briefly when he went to the bench after being struck in the face. Porter returned to action in the fourth quarter to close.
Rice had 22 points in that 90-74 win vs. the Hawks as he manufactured most of his offense from the foul line where he made 14 of 16.
The Wizards will be off Monday and not practice before closing out first-round play Tuesday vs. the Miami Heat.
