Wizards take down Nets

Marcin Gortat may have made the same mistake twice, but not three times when it comes to make predictions for the Wizards. The center, who said in the midst of a hot streak almost three weeks ago that they could win 50 games, stopped himself this time.

Bradley Beal and Nene returned from injuries and both were clutch. Beal brought the Wizards (12-13) back at the New York Knicks. Nene came up huge in the fourth quarter of wins at the Brooklyn Nets and Boston Celtics. Both are on minute restrictions and haven't hit full stride yet.

"If you have everybody back, if everybody's healthy, we got too many weapons. … We can go to a lot of different things," Gortat said during the Wizards' 3-0 road trip last week "We got Bradley in the pick-and-roll. Then I can play with John (Wall) in the pick-and-roll, Trevor (Ariza) and Martell (Webster) spotting up in the corner. It's a totally different game. We got too many weapons to play against every team. It was fun to have Bradley, who could knock down a shot in the most important moment."

Their returns have aided the bench in playing better. Trevor Booker has played solid starting in place of Nene. Kevin Seraphin suddenly has caught fire offensively and hasn't been as turnover-prone. The Wizards took a significant step forward when they won seven of nine games but then took two steps back when injuries contributed to a four-game losing streak.

"If we can continue to play like this we can make some noise," said Gortat, who then broke out in a smile as he seemed on the verge of another bold proclamation. "Let's don't get excited about that. I learned this thing in the last two (weeks). ... We got another 50-something (games to play)."
