Marcin Gortat was just one day late, but the joke still worked. On April 1, Gortat's joining the Boston Celtics in the foul line huddle would have been an April Fools. On April 2, it's just a fun light-hearted moment from the Polish Machine while the Wizards were in the process of blowing out the Celtics.
"I got to do my scouting," said Gortat. "Rajon Rondo was kind enough to let me in. For a second I felt like a Celtic, you know what I'm saying? I made my dream come true, too.. I can check that from my list."
Good for Gortat. The Wizards suffered a bad loss Monday against the Bobcats, coughing up a big lead and returning home to questions about their playoff readiness. Sure the Wiz need just one win to clinch a playoff berth for the first time since 2007-08, and they should have won the game in Charlotte. But the team has to move on.
Certainly the Wiz need to maintain focus, but they also need to enjoy themselves. It seems Gortat gets that. Helps that Marcin played a monster game, going for more than 20 minutes and helping the Wiz out to a big early lead.
