Recently we've indulged our rankings and list cravings by diving into the some of the NBA preseason lists and rankings available. That includes one from SI.com on the top 100 players for the 2013-14 season. Two Wizards made the list: Nene, who we examined yesterday, and...

41. Anthony Davis

40. John Wall

39. Mike Conley

Click here if you want to read what SI has to say about Wall, including the clear difference offensively for the Wizards with their starry playmaker on and off the court. However, the real intrigue (for me anyway) is where the max contract player ranks among the game's point guards. Since the entire top 100 has been revealed, we can see...

1) Chris Paul (No. 3 overall)

2) Tony Parker (4)

3) Russell Westbrook (5)

4) Derrick Rose (12)

5) Stephen Curry (15)

6) Kyrie Irving (20)

7) Deron Williams (24)

8) Rajon Rondo (26)

9) Mike Conley (39)

10) John Wall (40)

11) Ty Lawson (42)

12) Damian Lillard (47)

13) Jrue Holiday (48)

* From the gap after the top-eight to Wall coming just between Conley and Lawson, no quibbles out of me. Conley's played and produced on the playoff stage. Even though he lacks Wall's athletic skills, the Grizzlies' stud deserves the nod.

As for Lawson, well, Wall better have been ahead of him seeing as he just got paid lots more. Fine, the dollars is a circumstances situation (Wall was No. 1 overall pick, Lawson part of a deep, but starless roster). The former Bishop McNamara star should indeed be listed among the game's best point guards, but he's yet to show he can carry a team if needed. Can't truly say Wall can either even with the Wizards improved second half performance last season, but his overall skill set suggests it's possible if not probable.

Continuing to improve that jumper would move Wall a lot closer to that top-8 class. Leading the Wizards into the playoffs and making noise once there would help as well.

What does everybody else think about where Wall and Nene's ranking?
