Immediate reaction to the Washington Wizards trade deadline appears a bit all over the place. Some like the addition of veteran guard Andre Miller as a potential stabilizing presence for the second unit while others wonder about the upside for a soon-to-be 38-year-old who hasn't played since December. Some are cool simply to have ended the faulty Jan Vesely era and the shorter stint with Eric Maynor. There are 28 games left in the regular season to see how it all plays out.
As for reaction from those involved, at least one player is excited about the move.
One look at Maynor's game log explains his endorsement. Added as free agent this offseason, Maynor has played only seven minutes in 2014, all in one game. His last point came on December 6. Perhaps the most interesting aspect of this point guard swap is that Maynor nor Miller has scored in 2014.
Of course, Miller has somewhat of an excuse seeing as he hasn't even suited up since December 30 over a dispute about his role with the Nuggets. That's about to change now that he's in Washington. As for Maynor, he's now with the rebuilding Philadelphia 76ers. Will that mean more playing time? Hard to say, though 76ers are supposedly all about tanking.
