Brooklyn's 109-98 loss to New York on Tuesday night has playoff implications for the Wizards. How? CSN Wizards Insider J. Michael explains:
Coming into the week, the Wizards needed to win against Miami on Monday (which they did) and again against Boston on Wednesday to keep hope of moving up one spot and into the No. 5 seed in the East.
In addition to winning out, they would need help from Brooklyn. The Nets would have to lose two of their final three games in combination with those Washington wins. If that were to occur, both teams would finish with 44 wins. The Wizards own the tiebreaker, meaning Washington would clinch the fifth seed.
Brooklyn defeated Orlando on Sunday and lost to New York on Tuesday. Now, a Washington win over Boston and a Brooklyn loss to Cleveland on Wednesday means the Wizards enter the playoffs as the No. 5 seed.
