Last week came word that Flip Saunders would add coaching duties to his list of responsibilities with the Minnesota Timberwolves. That logically led to a question about whether any of his former assistants that comprise Randy Wittman's coaching staff with the Wizards would change addresses.

One report out of Minnesota suggests that will indeed happen - and with the one coach related to Saunders by blood.

Jerry Zgoda with the Minneapolis Star-Tribune provided an update regarding possible assistants joining the Timberwolves. He slipped this line into the fourth paragraph:

Also expect Flip's son Ryan to join the staff, but he's under contract with Washington until month's end.

Ryan Saunders stayed with the Wizards for a fifth season despite his father rejoining Minnesota last year. Sam Cassell and Don Zierden also joined Saunders in Washington.

The Wizards recently announced Wittman's new contract, but have yet to provide updated status with the assistants, though there is no indication of any changes coming from the organization's perspective.

The NBA year ends on June 30, four days after the 2014 Draft.

Last year Milt Newton left Washington's front office to become Minnesota's general manager, but did so after the 2013 draft.
