Report: Wizards to host Knicks on Xmas Day

Earlier this week we pondered whether the Wizards now had enough juice to play on Christmas Day, a prominent date on the NBA calendar, and if so, against which team.

The official league schedule won't be released for another couple of weeks, but reports about December 25th matchups have started to leak. Including this one:

A few things:

1) This would mean that indeed the Wizards would lace them on Christmas Day, something they haven't done since 2008.

2) Expect tons of Carmelo Anthony vs. John Wall (or Paul Pierce?) promotions, not to mention how this will be a "Very Zen Christmas matchup."

3) Most interesting, the "spend Christmas with the Obamas" mention infers the game would be held at the Verizon Center. Perhaps an NBA game on December 25 will keep the First Family in town for the holiday.

While there is no recent buzz between the two teams along the lines of recent playoff battles (Bulls, Pacers) or future free agents (Thunder), just about any Washington-New York matchup works. Besides, both teams will be in the mix for Eastern Conference playoff berths and then some, in theory.

By the way, I seem to recall someone else dropping similar D.C. based references to announce they were coming to town...
