With the No. 3 pick in the 2013 NBA Draft the Washington Wizards select….
While David Stern eventually called the name of Otto Porter it wouldn’t have been far fetched to see Nerlens Noel land in Washington. Coming off an ACL injury Noel, once the likely No. 1 overall pick, fell on draft night all the way down to No. 6 where the New Orleans Pelicans selected him.
The former Kentucky Wildcat was promptly traded to Philadelphia in a deal for Jrue Holiday as the 76ers look to star over from scratch. Noel was expected to return at some point this season but according to CSNPhilly.com he may miss the entire season.
In this aspect it looks the Wizards made the right move on passing up on the potential of the big man, at least in the short term. On the opposite spectrum Blake Griffin sat out his rookie year and turned out just fine. Guess we’ll have to wait and see.
