According to CSN Bay Area’s NBA Insider Ric Bucher, the Wizards have made a trade offer to the Memphis Grizzlies for Rudy Gay.
The Baltimore native has recently been the focus of a number of trade rumors, but this is the first time the Wizards have come up in the discussion. While the specifics of the Wizards’ offer are unknown, Bucher’s league source claimed it was a “good one”.
The Grizzlies have been one of the NBA’s surprise teams the season, coming out of the gates with a 24-10 record. However former owner Michael Heisley recently sold the team to Robert Pera, and it is believed the new ownership will look to cut costs if need be.
The 26-year-old Gay is averaging 17.9 points per game this year, and is currently under contract till 2014-15.
