Wizards vs. Celtics
at TD Garden
TV: CSN, 6 p.m. ET
Season series: Celtics lead 2-0.
Last meeting: The Wizards lost 100-94 in Boston on Nov. 7, committing 19 turnovers, taking 29 three-point shots and getting to the free-throw line only seven times. They fell behind by 14 points entering the fourth. Boston PF Kevin Garnett had game highs of 20 points and 13 rebounds.
Previous game: The Wizards beat the Indiana Pacers 104-85 on Saturday to improve to 29-47. The Celtics lost to the Cleveland Cavaliers 97-91 Friday to fall to 39-37.
Projected starting lineups: Wizards -– PG John Wall, SG Garrett Temple, SF Martell Webster, PF Nene, C Emeka Okafor. Celtics –- PG Avery Bradley, SG Courtney Lee, SF Jeff Green, PF Brandon Bass, C Chris Wilcox.
Pivotal matchup: Temple vs. Green. Without Garnett and SF Paul Pierce, the Green has to fill the void left offensively. He has scored 27 or more points four times in the last two weeks. Temple has taken over Bradley Beal's spot since he went down with an ankle injury and is done for the season. He has occasionally shown the ability to make the mid-range jump shot and helps with the ball-handling. He’ll need to score more to keep Green honest. Temple scored only two points in a three-game stretch before making 3 of 4 shots, two three-pointers, vs. the Pacers.
Trending upward: Wall, who has had issue with ball protection, has just six turnovers in the last four games. ... Backup C Kevin Seraphin turned in a solid effort with 15 points vs. Indiana.
Trending downward: The three-point touch has left. SF Trevor Ariza was 1 of 6 and Webster, who has been ice cold lately, only attempted two. ... Okafor was 3 of 13 shooting but that could be attributed to the long wing span of Pacers C Roy Hibbert.
He said it: "Give us confidence and show what we're capable of doing. We know that we can play with anybody in this league." -- Wizards backup PG A.J. Price after beating Pacers on Saturday.
Around the bend: Tuesday at New York Knicks, 7:30; Wednesday vs. Miami Heat, 7; Friday vs. Philadelphia 76ers, 7. All games on CSN.
