Strong 1st half carries Wizards to victory
Although the Wizards haven't always looked the part of a playoff team, they've had one believer through the ups and downs: LeBron James. The superstar for the Miami Heat repeated a familiar refrain after Wednesday's game, a 114-97 win for the Wizards who led by as many as 34 points.
"When John Wall is healthy, they are a very, very good team. He played an unbelievable game. Also Nene, also Bradley Beal and the rest of those guys. They have a really good team," James said. "It is a team that we all thought would be pretty good."
A win Friday, in the second of a five-game homestand, and the Wizards (18-19) are at .500 for the third time this season. They put seven players in double figures against Miami as Wall led with 25 points.
"They are a very young team that on certain nights, they can get you," Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said. "We've been saying this about the Eastern Conference all year long -- way too premature to evaluate so many of these teams because you don't know where they will be in the spring."
The Wizards are sitting in the conference's fifth seed which would offer a more favorable first-round matchup in the playoffs. The Heat likely will be the No. 2 seed, which means they'd be matched against No. 7 in a playoff scenario.
