O.J. Mayo will not be in uniform for the Milwaukee Bucks when they meet the Wizards for the third time this season Saturday, which doesn't necessarily mean anything. They've split overtime games on each other's home floor.
Mayo became upset at New Orleans Pelicans center Greg Stiemsma when they became intertwined on a screen. Mayo struck him in the throat and was ejected.
The Bucks (12-49) already were playing that game without Ersan Ilyasova after he threw a punch to Reggie Evans in a game vs. the Sacramento Kings on Wednesday. The NBA reviewed the play and made the announcement just before 3 p.m. ET Saturday. Mayo was given the same discipline, a one-game suspension without pay.
In their win in Milwaukee, the Wizards (32-29) had to come from behind late in the fourth quarter to win in overtime. It hasn't been an easy matchup though on paper it should be though Mayo, who went from being a starter to coming off the bench, is a significant loss for the offense.
On the flip side, the Wizards expect to have Martell Webster in the lineup again after he missed the previous two games with a sore back. He fully practiced Friday and Saturday.
