The Wizards’ backcourt of John Wall and Bradley Beal will be among about 24 players who’ll compete at USA Basketball’s offeseason mini-camp in Las Vegas.
Wall confirmed via text message to CSN Washington on Thursday night that he received and accepted the invitation.
Beal, who has yet to be cleared because of a stress injury to his lower right leg, also has accepted an invite, according to his representatives at Priority Sports. Beal told CSN earlier this week that he expects to get X-Rays in the next few weeks so he can return to basketball-related activities.
The camp is July 22-25 and players will be evaluated for next year’s World Championships in Spain and the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.
The Wizards also want Beal to compete on their summer league team which also will be in Las Vegas. Beal missed 26 games in his rookie season because of injuries to both ankles and his right (shooting) wrist.
Wall missed the first 33 games of the season because of a similar stress injury to his left knee.
"I'd love to have Bradley participate in that," Wizards coach Randy Wittman said of the summer league, which will run July 12-22 at Cox Pavilion on the campus of UNLV.
