John Wall. Kyrie Irving. Head-to-head.

Finally.

After missing each other in all three games between the Wizards and Cavaliers this past season, the two point guards are on opposite teams in Thursday's Team USA Showcase. The game (NBATV, 9 p.m. ET) will be held at the Thomas & Mack Center on the campus of the University of Nevada Las Vegas. Full rosters are below.

Fine, it's not a "game" game, but we haven't seen the former No. 1 overall picks on the same court in front of a paying crowd since April 25, 2012, the Wizards penultimate game of the 11-12 season. Last campaign, Wall missed the initial two games against Cleveland due to the knee injury that caused him to miss nearly three months.

The top selection in the 2010 draft, Wall played in the series finale against the Cavs in March. This time it was Irving, drafted first overall in 2011, forced to sit out with an injury.

Even though the NBA is lousy with solid to super point guards, Wall against Irving is a legitimately intriguing matchup. Beyond the No. 1 pick duel angle, there is the national perception that while Irving has moved into the upper echelon of point guards, Wall isn't quite there.

Obviously the Wizards leading scorer improved dramatically over the second half of last season and there is plenty of time fr views to change before final roster decisions are made for next summer's World Championships. Then again, Irving's college coach, Duke's Mike Krzyzewski, has the same position for the national team. At least Coach K doesn't have a say in Eastern Conference All-Star decisions.

Besides Wall, point guards on the "blue" team include Damian Lillard and Kemba Walker. Irving, Mike Conley, Jrue Holiday and Ty Lawson are members of the "white" team.

Seeing as both sides in Team USA's split-squad game are loaded, who knows how long Wall and Irving will actually play against each other.

Even one minute beats last season.
