5 most painful Wizards losses this season

(Brad Mills-US PRESSWIRE)

This is year three of the Wizards’ rebuilding project and part of getting back to respectability in the league is learning how to win. The franchise worst 0-11 record says it loud and clear that Washington is nowhere near close to turning that corner and realizing what it takes it to become a winner.

"I tell the guys and they think sometimes I'm crazy, it's hard to win," Wizards coach Randy Wittman said.

After a 20-46 record last season, Wittman is in charge of getting the team back on track and right now they are derailed. Wittman's record now is 18-42 as head coach of the Wizards.

"Obviously, it lies with me," Wittman said after another gut-wrenching, would-have, should-have, could-have 108-106 double OT loss against Charlotte Saturday night at Verizon Center. "I've got to figure out a way to get this right. That's what my job is and I'll take full responsibility for that and I'll continue to work and try to find a starting combination, people to play. Obviously, I'm not pushing the right buttons or pulling the right strings now. I'll continue to try to figure that out."

Wittman and the Wizards have to figure something out quickly because the upcoming stretch only gets harder, starting with San Antonio in town Monday night.

Before the season started Wittman told his team, "If winning were easy, losers would do it." Right now winning is the hardest thing imaginable for the Wizards.
