The Wizards will play eight preseason games including three at the Verizon Center and one at the Baltimore Arena, the team announced on Monday.

Washington will open on the road against Derrick Rose and the Chicago Bulls on Oct. 6 in a rematch from last year's postseason. The Wizards will then face the New Orleans Pelicans in Jacksonville on Oct. 8 and the Charlotte Hornets in Greenville, S.C. on Oct. 10 before returning home for four straight local games.

John Wall and company will host the Detroit Pistons (Oct. 12), Israeli league team Maccabi Haifa (Oct. 15) and Charlotte (Oct. 17) at the Verizon Center before meeting New Orleans at the Baltimore Arena on Oct. 20.

Washington will close the preseason on Oct. 22 against the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden.

For reasons involving their college days and NBA status, Wall versus Rose matchups are always a highlight of the NBA calendar. When the point guards are actually on the court, that is.

Wall and Rose, the 2011 NBA MVP, recently competed in Team USA's training camp. With both players dealing with knee injuries over the last two seasons, they haven't faced each other in a regular season since Jan. 30, 2012. In fact, the the John Calipari-coached point guards have only met four times during the regular season since Wall entered the league in 2010.

The Wizards defeated the Bulls 4-1 in the first round the 2014 Eastern Conference playoffs.

Also rare, so many home games. I can't recall the last time the Wizards played this many in the area. Perhaps a sign of enhanced local interest following last season's playoff run and offseason additions of Paul Pierce and others.
