With almost 30 years of playing experience among them, Wizards free agents Al Harrington, Drew Gooden, and Garrett Temple have encountered their share of the NBA and all it has to offer, including the interviewing process. Last week, the Washington trio decided to spend their offseason learning a new trait, and this time they were the ones asking the questions.
Harrington, Gooden, and Temple participated in Syracuse University's Sportscaster U program, a broadcasting bootcamp that gives professional athletes an opportunity to learn the ins and outs of being a sports broadcaster. The three got opportunities to read teleprompter, learn how a studio operates, and experience how tough it really is to "act natural" on camera.
"I didn't know how nervous I would get speaking into the camera versus how easy it is to look away from the camera and talk to you, it was definitely a tough task for me the first day", Gooden said looking back on his experience.
Six other NBA athletes also attended the workshop including Kris Humphries, Richard Hamilton, and Jerryd Bayless.
