Pivotal matchup: Ariza vs. Kidd-Gilchrist. The Bobcats' rookie only averages 9.2 per game, but he has been on a bit of a hot streak by shooting 8-for-11 and 8-for-13 in two of his last three games. Ariza is Washington's best one-on-one defender.
Trending upward: Backup PG A.J. Price appears back in rhythm after being slowed by a thigh contusion. He shot 4-for-8 for 10 points and had four assists in 21 minutes in Brooklyn. ... C Kevin Seraphin had 11 points and seven rebounds in 23 minutes.
Trending downward: In his last six quarters, Ariza is shooting 2-for-12 now that he is in the starting lineup. SG Bradley Beal has missed two games in a row (left ankle sprain). ... PF Nene hasn't had a 20-point game since Feb. 11.
