Numbers to note from the Wizards-Pacers series following the Wizards' 102-79 rout over the Indiana Pacers on Tuesday night. Indiana leads the best-of-7 series 3-2 entering Thursday's Game 6 at the Verizon Center.
*One of two in 30: As in Marcin Gortat joining Dwight Howard (2009) as one of two players in the last 30 postseason with at least 30 points, 15 rebounds while shooting over 80 percent from the field. Gortat's finished with 31 points on 13 of 15 field goals with 16 rebounds.
*39: As in the Wizards unreal rebounding margin, which is the largest difference in any NBA game since the 1992 regular season (Knicks +40 over Hornets; h/t @jlundbladespn)
*39, Part 2: As in the +39 tying for third largest rebounding margin in NBA history.
*John Wall, a 35 percent 3-point shooter during the regular season, scored 27 points in Game 5 while making 3 of 6 attempts from beyond the 3-point arc. He had not made at least three 3's in a game since March 29 against the Atlanta Hawks. During the 19 games in between, the point guard went 8 for 43 (18.6%).
*52.2: As in Gortat's net rating (offensive rating - defensive rating) in Game 5. Meanwhile, four Pacers were minus-52 or worse with David West leading the way at minus-57.6. (Rating is a statistical measure of points per 100 possessions)
*24.6: As in the percentage of available rebounds Gortat grabbed while on the court. That's a great number, but not as good as...
*3: As in the percentage of available rebounds Drew Gooden grabbed while on the court. Finished with nine in 17 minutes. For comparison, Roy Hibbert finished at 4.3% while Lance Stephenson didn't even register a rebound.
Big men stuff
*Drew Gooden has grabbed 36 rebounds in 95 minutes over five games against Indiana. Roy Hibbert has 25 rebounds in 145 minutes. Nene has 21 rebounds in 150 minutes.
*The Pacers only made 20 percent of their shots when defended at the rim by Gortat while the Wizards finished at 85.7 percent with Hibbert at the rim. By comparison, Indiana made 54.5 percent of its rim attempts versus Gortat in Game 4 while Washington only made 6.7 percent versus Hibbert.
*Martell Webster has gone three straight games without a made 3-pointer, his second such three-game streak in the last seven games. During the regular season he never went more than two games in which he played without a 3-pointer.
*Rather surprisingly, Trevor Booker and Otto Porter each have the same amount of made field goals in this series, one.
Historic, Part 2
*Washington has not won a playoff game beyond the first round since 1979. Another chance comes Thursday.
*Out of 195 teams, only eight in NBA history have rallied from 3-1 deficits to win a series. The 2014 Wizards are team 195. One of the eight, the 1979 Washington Bullets.
