D.C. United defenders Bobby Boswell and Sean Franklin have been selected to the 2014 MLS All-Star team. Boswell and Franklin will both represent the MLS as they take on F.C Bayern Munich on August 6 in Portland, Oregon. Boswell is a two-time MLS All-Star, having been selected in 2006 during his first stint with D.C. United, and Franklin will be making his first appearance on the All-Star team.
Goalkeeper Bill Hamid also was selected, making it the first time in eight years that D.C. United has had three players on the All-Star team. United is currently second in the Eastern Conference with 37 points, two points behind first place Sporting Kansas City. Boswell has played all 20 games for United this season and has recorded one goal and two assists. Franklin, who was the 2008 Rookie of the Year, has started 14 games for the Black and Red and has logged one goal and one assist.
"Bobby and Sean are as reliable as they come and are proven winners in this League", D.C. United General Manager Dave Kasper said. "They are both having outstanding seasons, and we’re proud that they are being recognized."
Other notable roster selections include Clint Dempsey and DeAndre Yeldin both of the Seattle Sounders, and Graham Zusi of Sporting Kansas City.
