D.C. United made a move to bolster its midfield Tuesday with the acquisition of Seattle Sounders FC Alex Caskey. DCU gave up a third-round pick in the 2016 MLS SuperDraft for Caskey.
The 25-year-old Caskey started 17 games for the Sounders in two years, finishing third on the team in assists as a rookie in 2012. A Georgia native, Caskey was taken in the third round of the 2011 MLS SuperDraft.
"Alex has had two solid seasons in Seattle, and he will provide us with great cover across the midfield,” D.C. United General Manager Dave Kasper said in a statement. “We look forward to having him on board.”
D.C. United begins play this season on Saturday, March 8 at RFK Stadium against the Columbus Crew looking to make the playoffs after a disappointing 2013 season.
