D.C. United announced today that captain Dwayne De Rosario has suffered a grade III MCL sprain. The reigning MLS MVP will miss the next 10-12 weeks effectively ending his season. DeRo sustained the injury while playing in the Canadian Men's National Team's 2-0 loss on Tuesday.
In a release from the club, D.C. United Head Coach Ben Olsen, DeRo is our captain, a great player and impossible to replace. With that said, we have talented players that will step up in his absence and this injury will not be an excuse to fall short of goals we set for ourselves as a team at the beginning of the season.
United plays the Revolution on Saturday night at 7:30 on Comcast SportsNet New England.
