Lots of people suggest that the state of Maryland is the current hotbed for college basketball recruiting. Turns out those people know what they're talking about.

According to the website Mode Analytics, Maryland ranks No. 1 among the states when it comes to producing the most current DI players relative to their college-age male populations. Per Deadspin (I let them handle the heavy math). the state of Maryland produced 58 players per 100,000 college-age males

The University of Maryland has seven in-state players on the team, including Baltimore's Nick Faust. Georgetown starters Markel Starks (Accokeek) and Mikael Hopkins (Hyattsville) hail from the Old Line State. Three members of George Washington's squad are Marylanders including starting center Isaiah Armwood (Baltimore) and leading scorer Maurice Creek (Oxon Hill).

The interactive map is worth a look especially for those looking to waste time now that we've almost reached the end of the work week.
